Our high season Ski Week. From June 29th to October 15th.
Cerro Castor is the result of a family Project which was born on July 9th 1999 when it opened its doors to the public for the first time. There have been many changes along these 14 years work. At the beginning Cerro Castor only had three quadruple chair lifts, 1 tele ski, 15 tracks and a building on the base. Now its infrastructure is different and has grown a lot but maintaining the essence of its beginnings. Thanks to everybody´s effort it has lifting means for all the ski levels, lodging on the base, 7 food points from where you can enjoy the sightseeing of Tierra del Fuego from different places, but what is more important is that it maintains the snow level which has characterized it.
Cerro Castor is located at 26 km from the city of Ushuaia, Argentina; on Road Nº 3, Km. 26, .and it is easily accessed as the road is totally concrete. It is the most exclusive ski resort in Argentina. As it is the southest touristic point of the planet it has characteristics which make it unique. Skiing on Cerro Castor is to enjoy the best snow quality, due to the position of the mountain (south slope) and its extreme location (parallel 54° similar to Moscow in the northern hemisphere). In winter, the most common and safe way to get to the city of Ushuaia is by plane. You can get to that paradise place from Buenos Aires. At the same time you can fly from Brazil through charter flights. The resort km from the international airport of Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego, allowing in a couple of minutes an easy access to a unique place
Cerro Castor is an exotic destination for its nature. There the sea and mountain get together to offer a unique sightseeing, which is covered in White in winter. Preserving the environment is very important and it is the aim of Cerro Castor to preserve the mountain against pollution. Both the staff and the visitor must contribute to this task. It is very important to take care of the natural environment in which this ski resort of the end of the world is. As a starting point Cerro Castor has decided to define itself as “fresh air mountain” and in this way it states that smoking is forbidden in close places (buildings, cottages, etc.) within the area of Cerro Castor. If anybody decides to smoke in the open air, we please ask to put out the cigarette and keep its stub in his pocket, and then throw it in the nearest bin (always checking it is totally put out). This is a task for everybody to enjoy a pure mountain in a unique sight.
